Anyone tried to install Test Partner in Windows Server 2008 Std? During install it complains about not being able to create QACInst database server instance. As per Test Partner Help, SystemInfo.WindowsVersion(tpOsVersionMajor) can return 6 which corresponds to both Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008. So it seems to me that it supports W2k8...
Re: Test Partner 6.1.x install on Windows 2008 Server
I need to work late to be able to call Test Partner... different timezone.
I have work-around though.
Step 1: I installed SQL Server 2005 Express with an instance of QACInst.
Step 2: Installed SP2, again for QACInst.
Step 3: From Windows XP machine, I copied a backup of the database into Windows Server 2008 Std.
Step 4: Restore the backup in Windows Server 2008 Std.
Step 5: Create a System DSN (using ODBC admin), say TestPartner_SQL pointing to the local database.
Step 6: Open Test Partner...
Step 7: Click Configure... button in login screen.
Step 8: In Select datasource, change the value as defined in step 5.
Step 9: Enable "Use as a TestPartner database
Step 10: Set Database to TestPartner and Owner to TestParnterDB.
Step 11. Apply and Close.... voila... local connection to database is working.
