I need to test the database to verify whether the added, edited and deleted records are updated correctly. Manually I used to check this by executing simple queries.
I want to execute the query through "QARUN". I have gone through the topic "Connecting External Database with QARUN", but I couldnot understand the concept clearly and i was not able to connect oracle with QARUN.
Can anyone explain me the procedure in steps , how to connect the database, connection string etc..
Connecting to Oracle via DSN can be different depending on the operating system. We had NT and XP. Either way, it required an installation of part of the developer installs to get the correct ODBC to connect. To connect from a QARun script, you must use the appropriate Oracle ODBC driver, not Microsoft for Oracle!
For NT, there was a package install we used that created a Oracle ODBC entry in the System DSN. For XP, we had to install the Oracle Client. Then the ODBC connection would use the driver installed by that which had 'client' in the name.
Hope this helps. If you get the 'Oracle Client' installed and can now see the ODBC driver from Oracle, then use that.
If you are still having problems...
Which OS are you using? What is the exact error msg.
