Hello all i need to just know if there is any method to save a file say an .xls file in qarun.I found abt. Filepos in command wizard but is there any other specific function that does this.
There are the commands Create() to create a file and Write() or Writeline() to write to a file.
The resulting file would need to be imported to Excel.
If you could be a bit more specific about what you want to achieve perhaps we could be more help.
Actualy the constraint is i have to read and write into a excel file and also save the changes. Is there anyway for it.
Not as far as I'm aware except by using a QA Run script to open Excel, open the file, make the changes and then save it!
Maybe someone else will come up with a solution.
I believe create command should help you out and given an .xls extension for the file to be created.
now u can use write and writeline to write into the excel file

Careful - write and writeline are text commands.
Graham may have the right answer.

Does it have to be a .xls, Excel can open a .csv just as easily. If it can be a .csv you can use the testdata commands to manipulate the files.
To do this you'd need to save the file from Excel as a CSV file and then Import the edited file back into Excel.
There are some Excel features which won't be supported when the file is converted to/from .csv format.
Also, I don't know what would happen to any formulae during export/import or editing in csv format.
There's a recent post in this forum on a similar subject that it might be woth you looking at
