    Password validation....

    Hi,

How do we validate password using QARun.

If we put text check point,it looks for characters and says pass if the number of characters are same.

For instance,if the password is rama and if we type rama in the password edit field, normally it will be ****.But if we type aaaa the password field will be also ****.So, if we insert a text check,it looks for four asterik(*) characters and say pass even if we enter different 4 lettered password.

Pls help me in how to validate this...

    Re: Password validation....

    If you use

    szText = CtrlText(EditFind("&Password:"))

Where [&Password:] is the name of the edit field it will retrieve the password not the asteriskskx (?)

Then use UserCheck () to put a pass or fail in the log.

    ie...
    </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">szText = CtrlText(EditFind(&quot;&amp;Password:&quot)

    If szText = &quot;Rama&quot; Then
    UserCheck (&quot;Password Check&quot;, 1, &quot;Password is correct&quot
    Else
    UserCheck (&quot;Password Check&quot;, 0, &quot;Password is NOT correct. Expected [Rama], Actual [&quot; + szText + &quot;]&quot
    EndIf</pre><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">Hope this helps...

    Re: Password validation....

    Hi,

When we type some thing in Password field,in QARun script the password is not encrypted, like in other tools like WinRunner and QTP.The actual password is displayed in the script.

Is it correct? What i feel is for security purpose the password should be encrypted in the QARun script.

    Thanks.

    Re: Password validation....

QARun won't encrypt it in the script.

We have got round this for security purposes by propmting at the very beginning of the script for the password to be entered into a custom dialog.

This can be created with a ***'ed field.

We then hold the value in memory for the duration of the script and use this when testing.

This ensures that the password is never hard coded into a script.

    Hope this helps...
