    QARun queries using Ms Word

    Hello everybody,

I have couple of queries in QARun. The AUT is an application similar to Microsoft word which uses VBA controls.

    1. In Microsoft word, Save As and Cancel buttons are not recognizable using QARun as a seperate object. Is there any way (by playing with learn settings), we can recognize it as seperate objects.

    2. Suppose we have a Table created in Ms Word, Can QARun capture the entire table and use table check over there. Whether QARun is able to capture the number of rows, columns and the data etc in the table.

    3. Does QARun captures COM objects and see the properties of that COM control?.

    5. Suppose we have developed a DLL and we want to use that inside QARun and call functions written inside DLL.
Is it possible to do that in QARun.

Any info on the above queries is most welcome.

    Cheers,

    Raman

Re: QARun queries using Ms Word

#1 - You'll have to use key strokes for these objects as they are graphically drawn.

    Numbers 2 and 3 == Bon Chance

For 4 = Yes you can, and in many instances have to create a DLL that QARun can call. Just remember to make to functions export (PASCAL convention) functions and make the parameters AND return values simple data types that QARun can deal with. If you look in the help under DLL function calling, it will give you a list of what you can use. We've had to write several wrapper DLL's to handle things that you can't out of the box.
So have you just bought the tool and are coming up with these questions now? Or are you still evaluating?

Re: QARun queries using Ms Word

    Hi

First, I heard that microsoft does not open the definitions of there objects from office!
So it's a hard work to identify them on the screen.

Second, if you are evaluating Testtools, you should take a look into TestPartner from Compuware. It's designed for microsoft environments and has VB as scripting language.

I worked with the new beta version (5.1.1) and i enjoyed it. You can use your word tables (from your word document) inside the scripts, directly navigate thrue, read and write to them.

It works well with com objets (you can set references to them). But is still beta....
