This question might be on another tangent to this QARun forum but here it goes. I've installed compuwares license manager on a server to provide a few concurrent user licenses to my QARun test machines.
All good (User machine access server, I'm happy)
Then the power that be request that I un-install the license Manage so I can prove the (trivial) installation guide I created.
Here comes the problem.
When un-installing the license manager I got a severe fault saying there is a newer version present (What newer version!). I had already stopped all the services and license processes.
I then proceeded to remove all traces of the compuware licence manager from my server
c:\program files\common files\compuware
even some registry keys.
I'd say "don't fix what aint broke" but that wouldn't help much
Just in case you haven't check Control Panels | Add/Remove Programs and look for Compuware License Manager.
Also, I'm not sure about this but could it be that you have a local copy of the LM and a copy on the server and the two are confusing the issue between themselves (and that would be the "newer" version that has appeared apparently from nowhere)?
Also make sure the LM service in Control Panels | Services is not running. OK so I wouldn't expect that error message for this reason, but hey you never know!
