I am new to software testing domain. I am told to do performance testing on web services using QA Load.
I have read about it but it's not quite clear to me . Can anyone help me out? Please I want to understand what are the steps when a test executes in QA Load?
Thanks in advance n Regards ,
If you are being told to execute a performance test with QALoad and you have neither training nor a mentor to help you, then your company did you a disservice and has unrealistic expectations.
Performance testing and QALoad are not things that you just pick up without some sort of training or mentoring.
Would your company expect to hire someone who has never done programming to start building SQL queries without any training?
I would ask them to get you the training and/or mentoring that you need to be successful at this task.
Also, since you are new here, I will pass on some advice. Please don't expect instant answers. We are all volunteers. Sometimes it may be days before you get an answer. Expecting an answer to a question in minutes or hours is sometimes unrealistic.
In that case, then I will state even more strongly that you need training and/or a mentor.
Performance testing and QALoad are not things that a newbie with no experience and no help can be expected to handle successfully.
Let me ask you some questions. How will you structure your performance test? How do you determine the mix of VUs that you will need for each segment of the test? What are the acceptable performance criteria? What network protocols will you use for the tests? How long will the test run? Will you be using any data pools?
Do you know how to program in C++?
Those are basic questions to ask before you even pick up a tool. You have then already recognized that you need to know how to use the tool. QALoad is a very complex tool that even some experienced users have not fully mastered.
I'm not saying any of this to belittle you or your skills. I am saying this because whoever tasked you with this has put you in a very awkward position. Basically, you are being set up to fail. You need to know this so you can ask for the appropriate level of help.
