This is really a c string issue as opposed to QALoad (except that QALoad c functions are really picky about the string parameters passed in).
I was able to recreate a middleware exception on the DO_SetValue line (basically because it was passing an int disguised as a char/string). But then got it to work w/the sprintf command that I found googling.
