Im having the trouble when running a www script on a client, the client machine has 100% cpu usage, at first i thought it may have been the length of the script so i recorded a smaller script but the same was observered. The machine i am using as a client is a p4 2.5g with 256mb ram would have thought that it would be enough.
The application is .net using asp pages
Also, I am assuming that you are running either XPPRO or 2KPRO. Neither of these OSs run very well with less than 512MB of RAM. 256MB is the minimum, but the recommendation is more.
It may not be the script that is causing the CPU to hit 100%. It could actually be the Hard Disk. If you are running out of memory then you start Paging...that is bad because paging essentially kills your test because the machine is overloaded. Here is one way to see what is happening.
If you are running 5.0 (if not, call your sales rep and get a copy of it or login to Frontline.compuware.com, I think you can do it from here also as long as your maintenance is current).
Open the conductor and setup your test. Once this is done then go to the "Machine Configuration" tab and click on "Player Agents". Look over to the rightand you will see a "Performance Data" column with the word <more> in it. Click here and then click the elipses. Now you will open up the "Performance Data Options". You should collect data on CPU, Paging File, and Time Disk in Use. This will help to explain what the problem is.
I am malmost positive that the problem is related to RAM. Double your RAM and this should be solved. Again, this isn't QALoad, but Windows requires a certain amount of memory and you are right at the bottom of that requirment.
Any machine that is going to be used as a QALoad player should have a large amount of memory to make sure the the results of your load test are not compromised by the machine generating the load.
