Use of TFS and TestPartner for Web Test Management

My development team has just made the decision to integrate with Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation.

To be more specific, my requirement is I have one web based application and Test Partner with me, now at a particular instance when I get heads-up that an application should go under some test cases I want to integrate/trigger TFS and TestPartner together to test the application for the listed Test cases in TFS.

Now I have 2 options open with me

    1. To go for TestPartner And QA Director or
    2. To go for Test partner and TFS

I am in a process to get pros and cons of both approaches

Does anyone have any experience on integrating the two?

Please suggest if you have anything documented difference for both approaches or a link from where I can get the Information

Any comments would be appreciated, but please no two word replies, I need some good solid facts.

    Thanks in Advance…….

Re: Use of TFS and TestPartner for Web Test Management

While I am not sure about QADirector, TestPartner does have integration with VSTS 2005 but not 2008. I have heard that there are plans for integration for 2010 but the beta for VSTS 2010 was only released a few days ago.

For VSTS 2005, it does not appear that there is any direct integration between TP and TFS but I don't think that there needs to be since your tests should be associated with VS projects and the integration there should be consistent with other types of tests within VSTS.

Here is a good starting point.

I cant say that I have ever tried setting it up myself. I just let our IS guys do what they get paid for.

Re: Use of TFS and TestPartner for Web Test Management

I'm not impressed with the ability of VSTS/TFS to do test management. It seems like an afterthought. 2010 might improve on that, but I think a purpose-dedicated test management tool is better than VSTS/TFS (which is really a development tool with a limited amount of test management capability baked-in).
