Here is the situation. I need to be able to test a web app on IE5.5 and netscape 4.7 and only want to use one testplan to do so. the newest silktest appears to be able to support ie5.5 with the dom extension, but that would mean losing netscape support. Is there a solution to be able to test on 5.5 and netscape 4.7?
I had similar questions as yours and was disappointed to discover that Segue only supports and has only certified IE5.1(highest build number is: 5.00.2919.6307)
SilkTest seems to work with IE5.5 for the most part, but I was having some problems with objects not responding during test execution so I switched to a lower version of IE. I also had similar problems with the supported versions of IE so, maybe it doesn't make much difference.
As far as testing netscape 4.7, I am unsure, but you can always just give it a shot and see what problems you have, and also try emailing segue support if they have certified this version.
As far as testing both IE5.x and Netscape4.x, you can't do this using DOM extensions. I believe you need to develop your tests using VOB in order to support both IE and netscape in a single test.
