    Reasons for agent abnormal exit

During script execution from test plan, agent abnormally exits automatically. But, when the same set of scripts are executed one by one from test script file, test case gets passed.

What are possible reasons for Silk test agent getting abnormal exit?

    Hi,
Is your project web-based? Are you using Alt+F4 anywhere? Can you tell me the exact scenario?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Palani.

Also, what version of SilkTest are you running? We saw this a lot with SilkTest 7 and 8. But upgrading to SilkTest 2006 has cleared up a lot of the Agent crashes we were having when running larger testplans.

Re: Reasons for agent abnormal exit

We are using a client server based CRM product to automate using Silk Test 2006 R2 [1547].

Also, we use some custom API functions to recognize the custom controls in Silk Test.

Agent gets exited in a random fashion and it is not on executing a fixed line.

I would appreciate if you can share your rich experience on scenarios where agent would go for abnormal exit.

    Regards,
    Senthil

Agent will not exit often. You need to debug the exact step, where it is getting done. In my case, we have used one call with Alt+F4 key. It caused the problem. I changed the function to close the browser and works fine.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Palani.

Re: Reasons for agent abnormal exit

    Hi Senthil,

I am also in to automating a complex CRM application. Its purely a .net based app.
Silk test can recognize only the menu controls of the application, rest of the grid
and windows all are recognized only as "custom win". Can u guess what wud be the reason?
My question is should silk test required a .Net framework installed in the machine?
or any other pre-requisites are required??

    Pls reply..

    Thank u,
    Kumar.
