Select second column of a ListView

The application I am testing has a two column ListView. The second column, once clicked, turns into a textfield and allows you to enter text. Is there any way to select this item with referring to the coordinates (i.e ListView.Click (1,200,50))?

In addition, the first column consists of a checkbox and corresponding text. When I record the action of clicking the checkbox is SilkTest records ListView.Select("Text") when I play it back it just highlights the text. I think I may need to use coordinates to select this checkbox as well.

Is there any other way around these issues?

Re: Select second column of a ListView

Are there more advanced controls and methods for ListViews? That application I am testing uses a lot of ListViews with multiple views, which are not easy to navigate through. Is there an easier to work with these objects?

You will need to obtain the coordinates for the item in the column you are clicking. The GetItemRect() method returns the size and position of the item relative to the listview.

    Syntax:
    SizeRect = listview.GetItemRect(Item [, bIconRect, iColumn])

Re: Select second column of a ListView

When I try to select on of the elements of the listview it says "ListView is not exposed", I try to use the ExposeItem method, before I select the item and that still does not work. Any ideas? This is runing on a Windows 2000 style wizard. May that have something to do with it?

Re: Select second column of a ListView

    Tom,

Any luck with the checkboxes within the listview/listbox. I posted this question back in July: ListView that contain checkboxes and did not get any responses. The only thing I can think of doing is writing a dll that exposes that listview's properties, but thats a lot of work.

    Tom,

dcreed responded to one of my questions on ListViews back in Jul-01 and he provided me with a new class called CheckListView and they worked! See my orginial posting back in Jul-01 under cgriswold and you will find the new class information.

Re: Select second column of a ListView

    Thanks for your reply.

The application that I needed this for testing decided to scrap the ListView interface and went with something easier to use and automate.

Re: Select second column of a ListView

i got a similar application. i have a dialog that has a listview that has multiple columns. now, i want to do some verification with the data on the third column (e.g. get icon or get text). how do i get around this? i have attempted to use the GetItemRect() but my problem is what to put for the item. the first column is empty.

what's the way around this? i would appreciate the input i could get.

    thank you.
