I am evaluating several tools for my company to determine the best automated testing tool. For all the technologies we need to test, it appears SilkTest may be our only option. I have had poor service thus far in just getting to speak with a Sales Rep! So naturally I'm concerned with support. I have a trial version and it doesn't appear to be as user friendly as other tools that I've tried. Anyone have any tips or comments about silktest that would help me in my eval?
If you can I would choose multiple tools and have them come out to your location and do a proof of concept on your application or applications. If they can't make it work with your application easily you can probably rule it out. However, if you have multiple applications you may need to do this against all of them because the tools will behave differently depending on the technologies they are using.
regarding support, i wouldn't worry about it. every time i had a question regarding something (that i couldn't find an answer for here) i would get an immediate response from Borland. But I think you have to have a maintenance agreement to get help with how to do something.
I looked into why we had a delay in responding to you last week. You picked the one week of the year when we take sales folks out of the field to attend our annual kick off meeting. I understand that we are on track for tomorrow!
