setting the address bar in the Browser or multi wMainWindow ?

Does anyone know how to or even if it is possible to change a wMainWindow const.

Let me lay it out for you.

I have two include files one for Dude application and one for Hotmail.
One Dudedemo.t file with multi testcases, use statments for the include files.

What I want to do is, setup Dude user for notification once by emial(this is done), then change to hotmail sigon page, logon, and wait for the emial to arrive. Right now I have to comment out the wMainWindow in the hotmail.inc file otherwise you get an error. This does not work as I have not found a way to start the Hotmail logon page.

The point is I do not have any HtmlLink to Hotmail for Dude Demo pages, and have not found any way to change the Address PullDown in IE so that I could SetText to it and click to change to hotmail.

The only way I have been able to do it is a seperate .t file and then put the two Testcase( .t) files into a Suite (.s) file. The problem with this is the need to share varibles between the (.t) files. I need to have the notication time (HH:MM) availible to me in the Hotmail.t and the only way I've found is via an external file using 4Test ini file functions.

anyone able to help me out, otherwise it is hacking I go ! Not a pretty site.

If I could just find away to SetText to the address bar.

    Bill,

You should be able to set text for the address bar without any major problems. What I do is twofold:

First I set up an include file where I put all variable values needed for a suite (Windows Logins URLs etc.) and make it aavailable to the .t file with a use statement.

Second I write a Switch Case that determines browsertype before placing the text for the URL. This is because not all objects are named the same for IE and Netscape. Once the browser type is determined you place the STRING for the url within the cases by something like this:

    Browser.AddressBar.SetText ("sURL")
    Browser.TypeKeys (<Space>,<Enter> )

You need the space or delete to removew the righthand side of the URL due to the quick linking feature.

Do you use Planner? I just put all testcases in a .t file and either run them together or create a main loop to run them selectivly.

These instructions may not be 100% I dont't have SILK infront of me right now. if you need a beter explaination email me.

    Bill:
The wMainWindow constant can be defined as a WINDOW variable. Then you can assign any main window ID to it. This change will work with SetAppState(), DefaultBaseState(), etc. I know it works with QA Partner. It should work with Silk also.

    Thanks,
    Leon

    the correct code is

    Browser.Location.SetText ( "www.hotmail.com")
    Browser.Location.TypeKeys ("<Enter>")
