HyperLinks in application (not in browser)

Hi, I am trying to check the text of a hyperlink within the application.

The situation is something along the lines of most applicaitons' 'About' dialog, which includes link to the company's web-site. (You click on it and the browser opens, etc). We have the same About dialog.
So, the hyperlink is not really in browser, so I don't think I could use SilkPerformer.
And SilkTest is seeing this link as a push button. (Which I would not mind, if it would see the text of the link).

Any hints on how to work with such control? Thanks a lot in advance!

If it s a PushButton you can use something like GetCaption . ?
Just check what properties are available with GetPropertyList
Last option ..you can click on it and verify the url that opens in the browser

Yes, I've tried verifying the properties. The caption is empty. That's true, I can open the browser and verify that the right link is opened, but, at least ideally, I also what to make sure that text of the link is also correct (as displayed in the 'About' window.

You may try the following:
1) Add executable file to extensions list in Extensions enabler
2) Set to this extension IE DOM type

May be this will allow SilkTest to recognize this link as HtmlLink object

Re: HyperLinks in application (not in browser)

Hi, thanks for the ideas, tried them, unfortunatelly, none work.
Setting application as IE DOM in extentions makes the tag non-empty when window is identified, but I still seem to be unable to extract the actual text of the link.
The link manifests itself as pushbutton, and GetCaption or GetName both return the tag value.
See screenshot:

Any more ideas, very-very please!

You might have already tried these...
- Check if there is a tooltip for hyperlink
- Check if you can select the text and copy
- Check if you can right click and see properties

If none of these work, you may need to...
- Click on the link and verify the text from the window that opens (browser / mail client).
- Use bitmap comparison

Re: HyperLinks in application (not in browser)

Thanks everyone!
NO tooltip, cannot select, cannot right click (well, I can, but there are no actions triggered).

I guess I'll resort to bitmap comparision and try to covnince our devs to add a tooltip. I really wanted to avoid it due to ever-changing skins.
Thanks again!
