Agent reload PATH Environment System variable

I have an application that gets installed and modifies the System Environment Variable PATH to include the application .dll path.

Unforunately Silktest cannot find these dll's until it is shut down and restarted. Is there a way to force Silktest to reload the system Environment Variables in the middle of a test?

hmmmmm.... Is the location where the files are copied fixed for your machine? Check if it helps to include the location in Options >> Runtime >> Use Path. Not sure it works that way...

Re: Agent reload PATH Environment System variable

Well, it would be easy to just include the PATH in the path after we finish installing. But part of the test is to test if the install succeeds. We wouldn't be testing the part where it adds the system environment PATH if we just hard coded it in there.

There must be a way to refresh all system environment variables in Silktest without actually restarting the Silktest.

Re: Agent reload PATH Environment System variable

Windows help states that the Path variable gets stored in the registry and is in effect the next time you start your applications.

However, your purpose will be solved if you can verify that the registry has been updated correctly.

I just did a quick check, and found the Path variable under :

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Se ssion Manager\Environment

This gets updated as soon as the path variable is changed. So you can use Reg_xxxxx functions to query and verify the path update.
