Unable to connect to machine "machine name"

    Hi,

Rest assure that I read the Help file and all related old topics before posting this message. For some reason I cannot connect to a remote machine.
    I already tried all these:
1)I tried using the machine name and the IP address on the host machine, in Runtime Options. Network set to TCP\IP.
2)I made sure the agent is enabled on the target machine and I double check the default port is not being used by another app.
3)I checked that the network connection is sound, I can pin to and from
4)I added the full name and IP address to the Hosts file.

    still not working......

4)I set the Agent to “local” on the Host machine and write a testcase using the Connect function.

    still not working......

    5) I opened a case with Segue Tech Support

    still not working......

What I'm missing? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Re: Unable to connect to machine "machine name"

Are there other remote machines which you can successfully connect to?

Nope. I tried three different machines and not luck. The remote machines just have the Agent installed. Do I need to install Silktest too?

Set runtime options to (none). Then use Connect({IPaddress}). Does that work?

Could it be a firewall issue? What error do you get when you try and connect?

Re: Unable to connect to machine "machine name"

It was the firewall! Thank you Tony.
I feel so silly, why I didn't think about it?

Is there any work around it? or I just need to stop the firewall on all target machines.

    Thanks again to all.

Re: Unable to connect to machine "machine name"

Assuming this is a Windows XP SP2 machine, my firewall has an exception set for "QualityWorks/Silk Agent"

Re: Unable to connect to machine "machine name"

Or I can go to: Control Panel/Windows Firewall/Exceptions/Add a port and insert the port number I'm using.

    Thanks Tony for the help.
