Select for HtmlPopupList uses wrong control

A page has several HtmlPopupLists on it.

The issue I am having is that the Select() methods isn't working. If I trying to Select() an item in the first drop-down, SilkTest will actually select an item in the third drop-down. In addition, the test completes with the following error displays:
[ ] *** Error: Control is not responding
    [ ] Occurred in Select

    Any ideas on a solution?

    I have tried the following:
    1. BrowserPage.SetUserOption ("ShowBorderlessTables",0) - this didn't work because the structure of the page changed, so the widget could not be found.

    2. Agent.SetOption(OPT_VERIFY_RESPONDING, FALSE) - this didn't work either. So much for SilkTest help.

    3. The other interesting tidbit is that the SetFocus() method does work. If I focus on the first, the cursor is placed in the first.

    Thanks for the help.
    Joe

Re: Select for HtmlPopupList uses wrong control

Here is a bit more information regarding the issue...

I have found that another machine doesn't have this problem.

I checked the Options | Extensions, and they are the same.

I checked the Options | Agent, and they are the same.

I checked the Options | Runtime, and they are the same.

Same SilkTest version. Same IE version.

Re: Select for HtmlPopupList uses wrong control

    Hi Joe,

Try using do..except statement to avoid "Control not responding" error.

    do
    Obj.Select("<option that u want to select>")
    except
// need not to have anything

    Thanks,
    Kumar.

Re: Select for HtmlPopupList uses wrong control

The do..except is fine for avoiding the error.

The problem still exists that the script uses the wrong control - the third drop-down, not the first drop-down.

Re: Select for HtmlPopupList uses wrong control

I've had the same issue myself.

You could try using a list structure (for each w in lwPopups) then switch on the popup you're looking for based on the items within.

    Are the popups similarly tagged?

I've got issues with 'Control Not Responding' errors myself, and they're on pages that normally work...I hate when this happens, but usually work around with a custom method using low-level events (<Tab>, Typekeys(skeys)...etc.)

Re: Select for HtmlPopupList uses wrong control

    Try this

    WINDOW w = BrowserPage.HtmlPopupList ("whateverthetagis")

    w.SetFocus ()

    LIST OF STRING lsContents = w.GetContents ()

INTEGER iPos = ListFind (lsContents, sItem)

    INTEGER i

    for i = 1 to (iPos - 1_
    w.TypeKeys ("<Down>")

    w.TypeKeys ("<Tab>")
