I've been trying to find a way for my server script to identify what agents are running, ready, and waiting for a distributive test. Creating a list of agent machine names is becoming time consuming, so I created a winclass, that when instantiated you would pass it a file name ( which had a list machine names). This works better and almost no maintence, BUT! I have seen times( actually all the time) where I have 10 agents running waiting for a test, and when I open up the policy administrator on the silkmeter server it only says's i have 4 agents running? And when we initiate a distributed test against all 10 agents maybe 3 will pick up the connection. ( usually only 2 pick it up, i've rarly seen 3 or more work consecutively) My question is has anyone seem similar behavior? Or can anyone shed some light?
Are the agents that do usually pick up always the same ones? I'm wondering if the issue is something as simple as the unreachable machines simply not being on the same network as the agents that can be reached.
Is there a limit as too how many agents you can spawn at once? I'm grasping for idea's. I only seem to be able to spawn a few agents(2-3) sucessfully. Also I have noticed that I will start an agent on a test machine, and then go the silkmeter server and It will not show up as being in use, And we only have 1 SilkMeter server at our company. This has been spinnin me in circles...
How are you bringing down your agents? If you are allowing them to be shut down by windows or (even worse) simply killing a virtual machine with the agent running, you will loose that 'agent lease' and will have to restart the silkmeter service on the license server. This is the only idea I have since I don't have many licenses to experiment with!
I don't think that is the issue. Even it happens. Today I brought up 6 agents and monitored the silkmeter server. and I watched agents pop off the list and come back on the list. and nobody was using silktest, I made sure of that. It's like it just decides to drop an agent and maybe it will pick it back up. So I really don't know what to do at this point. I can't get connsistant results and with little or no documentation in the Help, I'm stumped!
