We are planning to buy a licensed version of silk tool. I would like to know what exactly are the questions to be asked during the demo seesion? Would it be a better idea to ask them to automate a project for which test cases have already been written by us? Is 4GL user friendly and easy to handle say as compared to TSL
I guess you need to find out .net add-ins is exclusive to your license. You can find posts on .net add-ins n forum.
I have worked both TSL(7.0) & 4TL, i find both are equally same in features, it depends ones coding skills and 4TL languagae may take some time to understand, but its more powerful than TSL due to Object Oriented concepts.
I would recommend that after the demo you do a proof of concept where you would have the software at your site on your machine and you could work with it for a week or two to ensure that it meets your needs.

Thanks for the reply. As of now we are testing all our in-house applications manually. We do have testers who have a basic understanding of OOPS concepts. Not experts, but people who know just the basics. Do you think we can learn to write scripts in 4GL after learning the basics in the demo session? What are the disadvantages of silk test tool?
