While testing my application through ST, I noticed that the free memory available is 50% and it goes down & up during different stages of testing. Due to this, sometimes either application/ST hangs or ST does wrong operations.
When tested my application through manual, available free memory for the system is 95%. It means ST consumes more memory.
Basically my intention is to report to the development team that more memory is consumed while performing certains task in the application. I know that I can get the memory info from ST.
But the question is how to distinguish the performance issues caused because of ST or the application?
Hope you have understood the problem. Please anyone help me.
That is what I was asking. It seems to me that the kinds of performance problems differ if you are testing remotely. It is also possible that you could better monitor performance by putting ST on a separate machine from your AUT, if possible.
What is your test doing (in general) when the memory utilization goes up so high? You can probably guess what SilkTest is doing 'under the hood' and why the memory might spike. It could be that your machine is not powerful enough for ST plus your app. Have you monitored paging, context switching, etc to get a better idea about why the memory is being used?
