We're using Silktest 6.5 with the .net add in and are finding that our app is crashing under automaton in ways that do not replicate manually. Segue tech support has shown us that using the visual studio add in "Spy", which behaves similarly to Silk in that it uses reflection, also causes our app to crash. Considering the app does not crash manually, I am wondering if anyone out there has stumbled on this same problem and has found workarounds.
I ran into something similar to this while testing a web application developed in .net (though I don't need the .net extension to drive it). I am specifically referring to the AUT crashing with null reference exceptions.
What appears to be the case is SilkTest is attempting to interact with objects that aren't fully loaded. I have eliminated this with the use of smart delays. I'm using a WaitForWindow method and if you search there surely are examples available. I think there is one in the downloads section or perhaps at ameliortech...
Thanks Fred, we too are using WaitFor commands embedded in our focus commands. Still, we get frequent crashes in our app. Our developers think this is a bug in our software at this point, so I'll have to revisit this thread once we get back to automation.
