    Record tags in Windows declarations

I have an issue where the two ChildWin recorded in the declarations with different tags..(one with a WindowID and the other with Caption as per below)....however, when I try to record a testcase or actions for the second ChildWin it uses captions/identifiers from the first ChildWin decalartions....what I am doing wrong...I cannot get it to work....I am testing with a app developed using Progress Software.

    **************WINDOW #1:*******************
    [+] window ChildWin AddEditHomeSalesButtons
    [ ] tag "#2"
    [ ] parent Newstar
    [+] PushButton Exit
    [ ] tag "$1784"
    [+] PushButton

    *****************WINDOW #2*************
    [-] window ChildWin CustomOptionCriteria
[ ] tag "Custom Option Retail Pricing"
    [ ] parent Newstar
    [+] PushButton Cancel
    [ ] tag "Cancel"
    [+] PushButton OK
    [ ] tag "OK"
    [+] CheckBox BuyerApproved
    [ ] tag "Buyer Approved"
    [+] CheckBox Completed
    [ ] tag "Completed"

Re: Record tags in Windows declarations

I guess the 2nd child window has the same index/window id tag as the first one. Use Caption tag for the 1st child window as well.

Re: Record tags in Windows declarations

I can't really use the caption for the first one as it does not have a caption, it is a series of buttons with no heading.....any other ideas??

anyow, why is ST looking at the index/window when the tag is classified by the caption??????

Re: Record tags in Windows declarations

Is there any StaticText on the dialog? If so, I've used the following method for captionless dialogs:

    tag "[DialogBox]*/[StaticText]Place StaticText here"
Have you ever noticed? Anybody going slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac.

Put Window #2 declarations before #1 and see if it works!

Re: Record tags in Windows declarations

is the [DialogBox] the parent window or the ChildWin in question??
Could the StaticText be a caption of the first PushButton on the ChildWin window???
