We are using QAP 4.6.2 on Windows NT 4 to test Java applications on Solaris 2.5.1 JRE 1.1.6. The agent is actually running on the NT and drives the test application on the Solaris by communicating with yet another Java application called SilkBean (segue.jar).

We need to interrogate the Java application runtime environment to record the machine name, operating system and its version, and the JRE version. Unfortunately, the QAP various SYS* functions retrieve information only for the agent's host, the NT in our case.

We need this information not only for annotating the test runs but to automatically select methods based on JRE and OS versions. As anyone who has done multi-platform testing of Java applications knows, what works on one doesn't work on another.
