I'm running silk 18.104.22.168 and trying to connect to the agent app (v 22.214.171.124, both were installed from the same installer) on a remote computer. All machines are XP.
On one remote machine (embedded XP) when I try to connect to the agent it works once and then says the Socket Connection is refused. The other machine (full XP) refuses the connection first time, every time.
All machines are on the same domain, I can ping the targets from the host. I've tried changing the port number. I've tried using the IP address of the target PC and that doesn't work. I've searched the forum on "connection refused" and tried these solutions, to no avail. The one thing that was suggested that I haven't tried yet is uninstalling the TCP/IP protocol and reinstalling it because of other services running on the PC that I would have to deal with (read: pain in the neck), may get to this in the morning.
By any chance do the target agent PCs have more than one network adapter? Apparently the Agent only listens on one, the first one in the list. If this is your situation, you need to swap the positions of the two cards in the network properties dialogs.
Same thing exists if the box with SilkTest running on it has more than one adapter. Took me weeks to figure that out...
126.96.36.199 does seem to work on XP. It's also pre-silk meter (as far as I know) so that's not a problem here.
Both machines _do_ have 2 cards. I tried swapping the IP assignment on the host (and the physical connections) which didn't work, but when I did the same swap on the target the test script runs every time!
