I found many posts on Blat.exe with SilkTest and find it works perfectly with SilkTest but I have one problem.
I run a batch file on a scheduled basis every day night for my SilkTest automation scripts. I run a suite file which has all my test cases. The problem is I want to send the result file as an email once the tests r done. But how do I find out the tests are complete and then execute the blat command as a batch file or thru silkTest.
I thot of adding an additional testcase which executes blat as the last one but still the result file for the suite will complete including the blat command!
Any suggestions or ideas?
Re: Blat automation
What we do in our department is have a final testcase that creates and sends an email. The email only contains basic info (# of tests run, # failed, # of errors, # of warnings) and doesn't contain specific info about what tests failed or what the errors were. Adding more detail is a current project of mine actually.
In your case, since you are running a batch file, you could just add another line to the end of the file that sends an email with blat and attaches the results file (assuming the location of the results file is constant).
There's also a way to get SilkTest to export the results file. That might make it a more useful format. You can do it from the command line or check out the ResExportOnClose() function. This is just a suggestion, I'm not sure if its that useful though. I hope so, cuz it would make my job easier
