    QA Partner / Silk Training

I am planning to take the 2-day silk foundations and the 2-day 4test language training class by Segue. Does anyone have any comment s about these classes?

    Thanks in advance,

    Sam

Generally they are great for the beginning user of QAP/Silk. An advanced programmer or a person that already has experience using other tools might think it's a little too slow.

The 4Test Language cource however is great for all users whatever levels they are.

Re: QA Partner / Silk Training

I am hoping my Manager will send me to the Silk training classes held at the end of the month in San Fransisco.

It look slike the 'Silk Fondation' class is on testing web applications. Would this class be good for a begineer even if they are testing Windows Applications? I diffently want to take the 'Testing with the 4Test Language' class, and another one that sounds good is the 'Advanced Object Oriented 4Test' class, but that may be too advanced for me.

ANy advice on the classes and what level one should be at before taking them would be great.

Re: QA Partner / Silk Training

If you need a beginner class and you are only testing Windows apps (not web based) I would take the QA Partner classes route. Silk Foundations and QW Foundations are very similar, except one you work on a Windows test app and the other you work on a browser based test site.
They are very similar in teaching you where everything is in the QAP/Silk and they teach you the setup process which is also very similar. The only difference is the experice.

My advice is take QW foundations if you have QW at work and not Silk. if you don't have Silk you may miss it after the class.

The advanced one I would not take until you are very comfortable with the record/playback functionality of the product and you know how to declare windows very well. I would also make sure you have basic programming skills like writing simple functions/loops etc. before taking the advanced class.

    Hope that helps
