    Declaring windows with similar tags

I am having a problem declaring two distinct Windows that have the same Tags, but different objects. My old 16 bit QAP 4.0 Organizer book says to include a unique child in each tag, but this isn't working for me. It screws up the whole declaration and QAP doesn't recognize the window at all.

    Any thoughts?

A window declaration can be captured using either of the 5 types of tags.
I think you are capturing the declaration using the caption tag. Why don't you try using the index tag instead?

Re: Declaring windows with similar tags

Read the SilkTest help for the "multitag" statement. There is some good info there. Our application has this same case in it and we need to make reference to not only the dialog title in the tag, but individual child objects to have SilkTtest tell them apart. SilkTest won't record the tag for you this way though, so you'll need to manually code it based on the examples given.

For example, if you have 2 dialogs each with a title of "Test Dialog", but one has an [OK] button and the other has a [Yes] button, you would define their tags as...

    <font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre>
    Dialog1
    tag "[DialogBox]Test Dialog/[PushButton]OK/.."

    Dialog2
    tag "[DialogBox]Test Dialog/[PushButton]Yes/.."
    </pre><hr />

Just don't forget the "/.." at the end

Re: Declaring windows with similar tags

You can still declare those windows with similar tags, just name them uniquely. Then in your script to tell them apart check the presence of specific to the window child object.
