    Re: Window BrowserChild tag will change

    Thank you, Gentlemen,

    I tried running the app states using both wildcards and the const VERSION. This works nicely in playback. However, I was hoping that somehow I could get the Agent not to record the v3.11 in the app states or the testcases. With both of these solutions I will still need to search and replace the v3.11 throughout all the silktest files. Am I right?

    Thanks!

    Window BrowserChild tag will change

    The frame file for my application was created as follows:

    [-] window BrowserChild Application
    [-] tag "Application v3.11/[Pushbutton]Search/..1"

    The v3.11 in the above tag will change.
    However, I donít want to change all the recorded application states and testcases to the new version.
    Iím not too sure how to use wildcards here or if they are my best option.
    I tried change the above to a multitag Ė

    [-] multitag "Application v3.11/[Pushbutton]Search/..1"
    [ ] "Application v4.0/[Pushbutton]Search/..1"
    [ ] "Application v4.1/[Pushbutton]Search/..1"

    But this only gives me the following compile errors: Multitag prefix differs from first item.

    Any ideas?

    Re: Window BrowserChild tag will change

    Multitags with children embedded in them won't work. Why not? Because. That's about as good an explanation as I've gotten on the matter.

    I would use either wildcards or change the tag when the application changes. That'll give you something of an implicit verification. Application caption changes, tests fail.

    Another option might be to do a search and replace to change all of the 3.11's to a constant reference:

    </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">const VERSION = &quot;3.11&quot;

    [-] window BrowserChild Application
    [ ] tag &quot;Aplication v{VERSION}/[PushButton]Search/..&quot;</pre><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">I'd probably go with the constant so that I could change everything in one place.

    Re: Window BrowserChild tag will change

    It's not the wildcards or the const that's causing recorder problems. It's the child in the tag.

    When I have a child in the tag, what I quite often do is have 2 tags in an object. One that I uncomment for doing recording:

    </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">[-] window HR_Portal ps_PersonalSummary
    [ ] tag &quot;/HR Portal/[HtmlPushButton]Add Dependent/..&quot;
    [ ] // tag &quot;HR Portal&quot;
    [ ] parent Browser</pre><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">- Dave

    Re: Window BrowserChild tag will change

    Are there any Agent Options I need to change?

    I coded the following:

    const VERSION = "4.0"
    [-] window BrowserChild Application
    [ ] tag "Application v{VERSION}/[Pushbutton]Search/..1"
    [ ] //tag "Application"
    [ ] parent Browser

    It didn't matter which tag I commented out. I still captured the version number on the application title bar during recording.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks!

    Blanca
