Hi,
Have you defined any columns as Numeric..? Generally you can define all of your XL columns as string. In the script, you can change it to your required format (date, number... etc).

Can you post your problematic code?
Thanks & Regards,
Palani.

Hi bvpd,

This problem is quite common when accessing data in an excel sheet.
This have also been discussed several times in this forum before. Try searching for "numeric field overflow"

Here are some links that I sure will help you.

Re: (HY000) [Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver] Numeric field overflow.

Couple of places we have observed this problem...

1. Type a number in a 'General' type cell. Excel treats this as a number and somehow creates issues most of the time with DB_FetchNext(). Gets sorted out if you format the cells as text. I guess it is not enough to select the column and change the format. You actually have to go down to all the cells that have some data, press F2 and press enter (to indicate that something has changed).. weird I know

2. If you have HyperLinks as data (assuming you want to automatically populate some cells) it gives similar trouble even if the cells are of type text. One work around we have found so far is using the HyperLink function in excel if you want to do this.
