I have newly joined the arena of Automated Testing. We are using SilkTest Version 5.0.3 for Testing our GUI product. We have very comprehensive test repository and test setup with us.
I am experiencing the problem of PC getting hang while executing particular suit file having say about 100 nos. of scripts. I'm not able to find out the reason of why system gets hang while executing the suite file. How can i troubleshoot this problem :
1) Is this a problem of SilkTest software itself??
2) Is there something in my scripts where i have to look into?
3) Is this because of the System resources not enough. Normally we have high end pentium PC with atleast 128 MB RAM or more.
Because of this problem, i have to spent more time on doing the stuff and wastes my time.
Also, can any one pls let me know whether SilkTest version 5.0.3 is compatible with Windows 2003 server Standard/Enterprise edition??
SilkTest has no 2003 support until version 6.5 and then only for Internet Explorer 6.0.3, with the DOM extension.
We've ran fine on 2003 on earlier versions with the exception that minimized applications are not recognized but we were able to get around that by using the ShowWindow() api. Also, the minimize, maximize, and close box buttons are not recognized but we got around that by using the sys menu to accomplish those tasks.
Typically when I have this problem, it is because the computer does not have enough system memory. This slows down the response time of the application and SilkTest will time out waiting for a response and will just hang.
I would keep your task manager open and see if your memory increases or you can look in the Silk help and they have a couple of functions to return free memory and see if you have a memory leak.
