    Calling external scripts from SilkTest.

    Hi There,

    I need some help.

    What I am trying to do :

    -> I am using SilkTest 5.0.1. to automate testing of one of the Windows based application.

    The Problem that needs resolution :

    -> During the execution of the SilkTest scripts I need to launch some other scripts (say perl scripts) and need to perform some operations.
    -> SilkTest needs to wait until the perl scripts are done with the operation.
    -> SilkTest scripts need to perfrom certain operations based on results from the perl script.

    How do I go about implementing the above scenario in SilkTest?

    Thanks ! Any help will be highly appreciated.

    Re: Calling external scripts from SilkTest.

    I need to be doing the same thing within about a week (but haven't tried it yet).

    What about:

    iReturn = SYS_Execute (sCmdLine, lsOutput)

    iReturn will be the return code of your Perl script (if you so set one).

    else...

    lsOutput (a returned inout variable) will be a list of lines returned from your sCmdLine call. You could then parse the output for your returned data. Based on what you parse out, Silk can then do the desired next step.

    This is in the online help. Jsut look under SYS_Execute.

    Yes, I use SYS_Execute( xxx , yyy ) to launch perl scripts and other executables, works fine.
