checking / parsing from html code

Does anyone know of any way to access the HTML of a page using SilkTest. I test web based applications and I need to check for and parse a page's hidden field. Can Silk test do this? Thanks.

Not currently, but you can invoke the Get Source and parse the form with code.

hmmm one more todo thing to add to my library

What about using your own code in a DLL? For example, use the Inet control to grab the page source into a string and then have the DLL call return that string. You can then parse it in SilkTest?

For example, with Visual Basic you can do something like: sURLTest = Inet1.OpenURL("http://www.somewhere.com")

The DLL returns the contents of sURLTest (which is the entire text of the HTML page) and then you can parse that.

Just make a function in the DLL that takes a URL as a parameter and then you can use SilkTest to call the function, pass the URL, and parse the returned string.

(Note: there probably is some much easier way to do this, but I tend to like using my own external code.)
