*** Error: Window cannot be scrolled into view

I have to run scripts on a small window.
It will be like a stratup screen with some check boxes.
and with some links to install the app.
This window doesn't have scrollbar, minimize, maximize, exit options.
I recorded some testcases. while executing the script it says

*** Error: Window cannot be scrolled into view

How to get rid of this error??

I have faced similar problem, I think I used SetFocus() on the component before doing anyother operation. Try this and let me know the result.

Re: *** Error: Window cannot be scrolled into view

Is there something not in view that needs to be? You may be able to force it into view by calling

    MyObject.ScrollIntoView()

If not, there are a number of situations in Silk where, for whatever reason, the Agent evaluates a situation and refuses to move forward until the offending situation is resolved. The sweet thing about this is you can force your way through them.

Look in the help files for something along the lines of Agent.SetOption(OPT_VERIFY_<yoursituation>, FALSE)

So in essence you would do something like:

    Agent.SetOption(OPT_VERIFY_ENABLED, false)
    // do your work here.
    Agent.SetOption(OPT_VERIFY_ENABLED, true)

Re: *** Error: Window cannot be scrolled into view

Does this startup screen appear fully exposed in a reasonable place in the viewing area when it is invoked so that a human user could interact with it in a normal manner?

If not you have an application usability bug.

If is does, but only partially, you can use the Move() method (or resize the container) to expose the rest of it, as a work around. Again you have a reportable application bug.

Startup screen appears fully exposed to the user.
It comes in the middle of the screen.
Silktest records it as a dialogbox.
I tried all the suggesstions given in the forum it is not working.
This dialog is the initial dialog in the Installation procedure of our app install.
So to start the installation I have to go through this dialog only.

Re: *** Error: Window cannot be scrolled into view

Can you show us the method call that results in that error?

It would also be useful to see fragments of the declaration file for that object that includes its parental hierarchy up to the MainWin.

Re: *** Error: Window cannot be scrolled into view

have you tried setting the following option?:

    Agent.SetOption (OPT_SCROLL_INTO_VIEW, FALSE)

or just uncheck this option in the Agent Options dialog.
Have you ever noticed? Anybody going slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac.

Re: *** Error: Window cannot be scrolled into view

    Tony,

That should change the error, but I doubt if that would solve his problem.

    balaji,

I recently faced a similar problem, but only after an hour did I realise, that the declaration of the control was not accurate.

    It was like this,

I am having 3-4 tabs. I declared all tabs at one go. Now if my tab # 2 is active, the declaration turned out to be different.

I added this to the declaration, removing the previous declarations and it worked then onwards.

Not sure if this is also the case with you : Incorrect declaration.

Other thing might be the control is not enabled.

Re: *** Error: Window cannot be scrolled into view

and yea, do checkout for the parent tag of your startup screen. in many cases, that should be the splash screen that loads up intially.

plus, there is one more thing you can do if nothing of the above works.

Send out keystrokes to go to the control that you want and keystroke also to press/click on it.

    HTH,
    Harshil
