    And when I want to select a particular data from popuplist i ahve to use as Select("#1")
    but I want it to recognize it as Select("abss").
    I would like to know if some one has faced such problem.

    Re: getting contents of the popuplist in string form

    If I am reading your question correctly ......

    String sAbss
    sAbss=Appname.PopupList.GetSelectedText()
    and if its a value you need converted
    integer iVal
    iVal=Val(sAbss)
    this way you can handle the selection easier.

    Good Luck

    Re: getting contents of the popuplist in string form

    Hi jbrusard,
    No that is not the case-
    take example-
    list of string cont=Appname.PopupList.GetContents()
    output is as:-{"#1,",#2","3",....}
    But I want exact string which is present there like-
    {"Jave","Abc","hhh",....}
    So to get the contents in this form what should be done.
    So now if I want to select an item in the popuplist I have to give like-
    Appname.PopupList.Select("#1")
    but whereas I want to select item as
    Appname.PopupList.Select("Java")

    It will be great help if you can help me out.
    If there is some confusion let me know.

    -Ramesh.

    See the help file under "Owner-drawn" lists. It will explain what is happening and options for dealing with the problem.

    Is this not possible or it's very difficult.

    Re: getting contents of the popuplist in string form

    Hi rametty1,
    I saw this problem with some of our custom list boxes. I resolved it by writing my own dll function.
    for writing functions to dll, search the forum.

    In side the function call you must have something like this.
    nMessage=SendMessage(hWnd,WM_GETTEXT, MESSAGE_BUFFER_SIZE, [out]strGridTxt). If you need the exact function, let me know, I can find and send you the code snippet.
    Thanks,
    Murali
