    Netscape and IE

    Hi,

I am relatively new to Silk.

Currently I am using version 2.1.4.

I am having lot of problems with switching from netscape(4.05) to IE(4.0)

Our application is using lot of java scripting.

Many decls are failing. Even that is not consistent. Sometimes it works sometime doesn't.
    e.g -
some Html links are seen as HtmlText and so on. Sometines some html links are identified with same tag on IE but then are correcly handled by silk if it is loaded in Netscape.

this is just of one of the many problems.

    So I am wondering
    1. if silk sees same page differently for IE and netscape
    2. If yes, then on what factors it depends?
if not then what could be the problem ?

    suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Vivek,

    1. Yes (please read the release notes)
    2. Depends, this is a very complicated issue.

Further Info on 2, you can use a common declaration (INC) file but you have to use multitag and identify unique tags for each browser. Segue recomends recording in Netscape and than modifying the tags for IE. IE will decare some objects that are not present in Netscape.

The other problem you are having with links being declared as HTML text is a bug that I have been discusing with Segue. The class of certain objects is not recognised properly in some cases when your application has frames and the source from one frame is coming from a different server than the other frame. This only applies to IE and does not happen in Netscape. That is really just a very high level description of the problem and I would be willing to give you more details if you want to email me your ph. number.

    Good Luck,
    Tom

I have that same problem with HTMLLinks being seen as HTMLText. However all frame pages are on the same server, but I have nested framesets. Let me explain, start off with two frames, a top and a bottom. The bottom frame is a logon Java applet. The java applet when a successful logon occurs pops to more framesets left and right in the bottom frame.

this nesting of frames also causes problems in silk seeing the correct class type
