AUT Crashes with the system
We are testing an MFC based application with Silktest. Sometimes the application crashes during testing, which in turn hangs the system. Only thing works after crash is ctrl+Alt+del. Due to this the script under execution aborts. Is there any way to handle this situation with continuing execution with next testcase in the plan?
Will it help if we keep the silktest host in a different machine than the AUT?
Can we get an exception if the AUT crashes with the system?
Re: AUT Crashes with the system
You cerainly want to wrap everything in your script in a do/except routine and that way you can get ExceptLog info when it crashes.
I would also recommend looking toward haveing a host and target machine as you have mentioned. That way, you can possibly recover from the condition and move on.
It is not clear from the posting what exactly "hangs the system" but it is possible that having Silk run the test from a remote location could allow you to kill and restart the AUT, or even reboot the target machine when the exception is thrown.
