Has anyone come up ith anything decent for converting the *.res file into text?
I would like to convert rather than using file handler's for each test case.
My next step is to create functions that print test case names and results to a text file and I can just pass in what I want printed but converting would be quicker so I thought I'd look into that first.
I tried the ResExport & ResExportOnClose functions, they both only give me a Summary ..i.e. How many passes and failures. I have testcases within testcases and test case names and results are printed into the results file. I am trying to escape extra code of doing File Handling but I guess if that's what I have to do then thats what I have to do.
I called Segue and they told me that that's all that can be done and they too my reuest for a text based results file in as an enhanment request.
I guess I was just curious if anyone had found a utility or sometimes a company will give out a routine that will convert the binary file. I can check with Segue again. This a pain in the butt.
Or, curious to see how other people are doing there results collecting and reporting.
Since the way I wanted to do it is pretty much blown out of the water, ideas and examples of other peoples routines would be great..
You can create an ODBC connection to excel and using db functions, you can write to excel. If you search this forum, you will find several topics on writing to excel. You will of course have to write your own error logging functions.
Sometime back I had checked out the Silktest Results repository feature. You can check it out too! It requires MS-SQL and stores all the results - and this can be generated into a cool HTML report
