I need to delete start menu items through the Start Menu. I can open the menu to click Delete by right-clicking on the item, but it will only select Delete from the popup list if I specify coordinates. And this is not an option because this test must be run on multiple OS's, resolutions, etc.
Any suggestions on how I could do this without using Windows Explorer?
You said you have to delete the m "through the Start Menu." Is that a requirement, or is it just that you need to make them go away by any means possible?
If you know the OS, the script can have conditional logic to handle your start menu item locations based on that OS. Once you know this, you can use the File Utilities in Silk to delete them and you can avoid right-clicking the start button as well as the Windows Explorer.
For example, in NT/2000, you will find the Start Menu items under Documents and Settings where you will find Default User, All Users and then specific users. Inside those you will find *.lnk files. If you delete those, the items will disappear from the start menu.
