    Problem with SP2

    I just installed SlikTest SP2.
When I try to save a file, it just won't save it. Instead it will create an empty file and the file I am editing will never be saved.

Am I the only one having this problem ?

Just downloaded and I'm putting it on one of my machines now -- I'll get back to you on this after lunch...

    Re: Problem with SP2

I just completed the SP2 installation, created a new file, saved it, closed it, reopened it, modified/made changes to it, then resaved it --- Result: no problem saving/re-saving the file.

    Re: Problem with SP2

I've not confirmed this yet, but there appears to be an issue with

    Browser.Location.SetText(sValue)

Says that is an invalid number of parameters. Anyone else seeing this???

    Re: Problem with SP2

I installed SP1 back, but the problem remains...
I don't know what is wrong, I guess one of my SilkTest configuration file is corrupted?

If I create a new file and try to save it, it just won't save it and it won't ask me to add it to the project as usual.
I found a workaround: I have to create an empty file outside SilkTest then add it to the project, modified it and save it.

    Re: Problem with SP2

No, I just installed SP2 over the current version I had (SP1).
But now, I just tried to uninstall, restart and install SP2 but I STILL have this annoying problem...

    Re: Problem with SP2

There are way too many previous problems with upgrading SilkTest this way to begin to list them -- suffice to say that by now you would think Segue would put a check in the installer to warn the user that the application is already installed in order to prevent this problem from recurring...

Anyway, just know from here on that you can never install a new version without first uninstalling the prior version. When you forget this, it most likely will corrupt something and give you problems you can't figure out.

Here is what you need to try from here:
    - backup (move) all your script, data, and plan files, if necessary based on actions below
    - uninstall SilkTest
    - reboot
    - delete the entire directory that SilkTest was installed in (the uninstall program does not do this for you, thus any corrupted files at this point will remain until you do this manually)
    - reboot
    - install SP2
    - put your script, data, and plan files back where you want them, if moved

That should work, but you could also search on the topic in this forum as it comes up regularly.

    Good luck,
    ~ Fred

    Re: Problem with SP2

    Well, this is terribly unnerving!@!

Every script I've written for the past two years uses Browser.Location.SetText and NONE of them work.

    Uninstall... <sigh>

    Ben071,

Did you uninstall and restart prior to installing SP2?

    Re: Problem with SP2

    Thats what I did yesterday...

But I just found out that the problem happens only when I try to create a new file on my Clearcase drive.
It seems that Silktest and Clearcase are not fully compatible...
