    Control names

    How are control names determined
For the same control, silk recognizes it differently. Below is a name of a check box

    ClientMaintenanceNew1.PbxTabCtl.Personal.PbxTab7.C ontrolPersonAffiliate.ControlPersonAffiliate

It seems kind of long and has redundant parts to it.

    Re: Control names

    1. Silk's name sequence represents exactly what the application requires. There are two modes in Silk for this: one that ignores a number of usually unimportant layers which Silk can imply, the other that doesn't.

Both of these are controlled by the "show all classes" checkbox in Record/Class. For most purposes you will want this box UNchecked. If you leave it Checked and Record/Window declarations, you'll end up with very long declaration files with very long window.window names.

    2. You are NOT required to maintain the entire window.window.window.window... naming sequence. It is quite possible to collapse it by concatenating the tags and removing the declared object from it's nested location in the hierarchy as many layers as you desire. In fact, doing so can be quite advantageous because the resulting brevity simplifies and clarifies communication with portions of the application and prevents the code from looking like COBOL. It also makes test cases far easier to read and understand.

OK, thanks, the check box is unchecked. Seems it will take a lot of work to do what you say, also, it seems it will continue to record the "verbose" option.

    SILK1
Where is the boardlesstable option or value located? What exactly will that do for me?

    Re: Control names

Options / Extension => Extensions window will be displayed.

Choose the app you want, e.g. IE6 DOM => the Option Extension will be enabled.

Click Option Extension => DOM Extension win will be displayed. You can change Boardless table level to 0-1.00. The default is 0.50, I believe. By decreasing the value, you can reduce the layers in win declaration. For details, please refer to Online Help.
