    Recognizing hints in SilkTest

    Can anybody advise how to recognize in SilkTest (during recording scripts) hints/ tips, their text which appears when focusing an object in Web application. Does SilkTest has such possibility?
    Thanks in advance.

    Do object.MoveMouse()
    Then Object.GetHelpText()
    Now it gives the tooltip of that object.Should be same for Hints also I guess.

    Re: Recognizing hints in SilkTest

    Hi Srinis,
    To get the Tool Tip for a Java standalone application , I have to use

    1. MoveMouse() and then
    2. GetHelpText() methods
    In this case only it returned proper string.

    #If I use only MoveMouse() it returned BLANK string.

    Why is this so? What the role of MoveMouse() in this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Recognizing hints in SilkTest

    Hi All,
    I have observed one more thing just wanted to share with you all.

    Suppose there are many buttons on a single tool bar then above approach fails , means Mouse will only move to first button from left on the tool bar. So we need to mention co-ordinates in the MoveMouse method of subsequest buttons.

    Re: Recognizing hints in SilkTest

    Hey all,
    The thing that I have noticed about GetHelpText() is that it gets the help for whatever item the mouse is over, not what you call it on. eg.

    </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">button1.MoveMouse()
    button2.GetHelpText()</pre><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">This will return the Tooltip for button1 even though you call it on button2. Just an interesting point.

    Brendan
