    Copy of Excel file

    Hi Group,
I want to implement one scenario in SilkTest. I'm having one data file as Excel sheet. I want to take a copy of it by another file name. I want the same format of original sheet.

Anyone tried this kind of situation before..? Is it possible by using Silk Test?
    Hope you understand the situaion.

    Re: Copy of Excel file

    Hi Palani,

2 options that i can think of:

    1) automate ur actions thru the windows explorer (oh yes ull need declarations of that too! ) - browse thru the dir - copy xyz.xls (by window.typekeys("Ctrl-C")) - then paste it window.typekeys("Ctrl-V")).
This will create a file called copy of xyz.xls - and then rename it!

    2) use SYS_EXECUTE to run a batch file which will include the above steps for dos mode!

    Cheers!
    Aatish

    Re: Copy of Excel file

    RTFM SYS_CopyFile:
    SYS_CopyFile function

    Action

    Copies a file.

    Syntax

    SYS_CopyFile (sToCopy, sToCopyTo)

    Variable Description
sToCopy The name of the file to copy. STRING.
sToCopyTo The name of the file to copy to. STRING.
    Notes

SYS_CopyFile copies the file specified by sToCopy to sToCopyTo. If sToCopyTo already exists, an exception is raised and the file is not overwritten.
SYS_CopyFile does not support wildcard characters in file names. Both sToCopy and sToCopyTo must uniquely identify a file.

    Windows platforms

SYS_CopyFile is executed by the Agent process, not the SilkTest process. To affect the host process, use the function with the hHost notation or machine handle operator. For more information about the machine handle operator and hHost, see Machine handle operator. For information on hHost, see the Userís Guide.

    Example

    SYS_CopyFile ("test1.dat", "test2.dat")
