    Referencing a MySQL database

Just wondering if anyone uses SilkTest with MySQL and if there is any documentation on the in's and out's.

    Yes, we are.
We are using MySQL 3.23 with MyODBC 2.50. Just create a DSN with the MyODBC driver.
    It is working very well.

    Re: Referencing a MySQL database

Yup! Silktest does work with it. Besides making an ODBC connection u also need to add an entry into the "mysql" database into the "host" table i guess to allow connections from the machine your going to query from.

In my case I had used a mysql database on a Linux machine and ran my scripts from a windows one.

    Best of Luck!

    Re: Referencing a MySQL database

Can You please give the steps to connect to remote mysql through silk.(I will be happy if you give some sample examples also)
I installed mysql ODBC ocnnection driver on local machine and trying to connect to remote by creating DNs entry but its giving error-

[MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Host '10.1.6.108' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server.

Also can you please tell how to add add an entry into the "mysql" database into the "host" table i guess to allow connections from the machine your going to query from.

    Re: Referencing a MySQL database

You dont need to dreate a DNS on the test machine..

    [ ] HDATABASE hdbc
    [ ] HSQL hstmnt
    [ ]
    [ ] STRING sServer = "YourServer"
    [ ] STRING sDatabase = "YourDB"
    [ ] STRING sLoginID = "UserName"
    [ ] STRING sPassword = "Pass"
    [ ]
    [ ] hdbc = DB_Connect ("Driver=MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver;Server={sServer};Database={sDatabase};Uid={ sLoginID};Pwd={sPassword};")
    [ ] hstmnt = DB_ExecuteSql (hdbc, "your SQl statement ...')")
    [ ]
    [ ] DB_FinishSQL (hstmnt)
    [ ] DB_Disconnect (hdbc)
    [ ]

regarding your error [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Host '10.1.6.108' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server, you need to make sure your Server is accepting connection from your ip range .. or just allow anyone to log in

    Re: Referencing a MySQL database

Is there a way to create a direct connection to a database bypassing the ODBC Drivers?

    Thanks.

    Re: Referencing a MySQL database

You can use JDBC and some java code to go along with it, but you'll have to write the code yourself. Why are you averse to using ODBC?
