    Decalarations changing at run time

    I was wondering if anybody had similar problem.

    The declaration of windows change at run time
    for examples when the window is recorded

    it will see

    Window1.window2.button1

    but at run time

    Window1.window3.button1

    Oh it has happened with me in the past. Your best bet would be to use recording only for smaller stints...

    Re: Decalarations changing at run time

    Hi Automation Guru,

    I had a similar problem sometime ago...

    If the declarations change within a range then you could use a if else loop.

    For eg-
    If you know that the button could have declarations:

    Window1.window2.button1
    or
    Window1.window3.button1
    or
    Window1.window4.button1

    You could do something like:

    If Window1.window2.button1.exists():
    Window1.window2.button1.click()
    else if Window1.window3.button1.exists():
    Window1.window2.button1.click()

    etc...

    silly i know but it wrks

    Do the declarations change on the same platform? or is it that when u migrate from one OS/Browser to the other?

    Hope it helps,
    Aatish

    I've had that happen quite a few times. When I can, I use a wildcard and change the script to look for "Window1.window*.button1". Sometimes you have to use nested if statements as was posted though, so it will take some trial and error.

    Beware of bugs in the above code; I have only proved it correct, not tried it.

    Re: Decalarations changing at run time

    Can you provide an example before/after record/window declaration that demonstrates this?
