Silk 6.0: Browser page without menubar/toolbar seen as dialog box?

    Hi,

We have scripts under Silk 5.5 SP3. Now, we are trying to run the same using Silk 6.0.
We notice that secondary browser pages without menubar/toolbar are being seen as a dialog boxes. This is trouble as we would need to redefine all these pages as dialog boxes.
Wanted to know if anyone else has noticed a similar issue / has any solution...

    Thanks.

Re: Silk 6.0: Browser page without menubar/toolbar seen as dialog box?

I tried using the solution given thru the above link(by Dave).
Now, this is good for fresh definitons. We are trying to use the available definitons wherein the popups are BrowserChild objects with parent as Browser; and there are many of these.
So, is the solution to change the parent to IE_Dialog (this would entail quite a bit of work) or is there any other solution ?

    Thx.

You could modify the parent statement for BrowserChild in browser.inc in the Silk 6.0 extend folder. Make sure you make a backup copy first.

Re: Silk 6.0: Browser page without menubar/toolbar seen as dialog box?

I tried changing the tag for window MainWin Browser from
    explorer6_DOM tag "$explorer6_DOM[1]" to explorer6_DOM tag "$explorer6_DOM*"

    But that did not help.

I will try putting accross my issue in a more clear way:

    Original definition with Silk 5.5SP3:
    [-] window BrowserChild Popup1
    [ ] tag "abc"
    [ ] parent Browser

    With Silk 6.0:
    [-] window BrowserChild Popup1
    [ ] tag "abc"
    [ ] parent Dailog1

    [-]window DialogBox Dialog1
    [] tag "$explorer6_DOM"

Hope this gives a better picture.

Re: Silk 6.0: Browser page without menubar/toolbar seen as dialog box?

How important is it that you retain the same source code for both 5.3 AND 6.0? Or, is this just a temporary condition as you qualify 6.0?

Re: Silk 6.0: Browser page without menubar/toolbar seen as dialog box?

Well, we are looking at moving over to Silk 6.0. But, we will need to have the 5.5 scripts for some more time.
But this glitch is dampening our efforts. I am not sure of the extent of rework, but it will be quite a bit of work. It gets pretty difficult to put up the cost for this maintenance to the management.
Hence looking for a easy way to work around.

    Appreciate your help.

    Thx.

Re: Silk 6.0: Browser page without menubar/toolbar seen as dialog box?

Has anyone heard from Segue on this issue? Is this how things are going to be from now on or will this go back so BrowserPage can be used again instead of DialogBox? Also,
why did they change this anyway?

Re: Silk 6.0: Browser page without menubar/toolbar seen as dialog box?

My lead seems to have recd a reply fm Segue indicating that they have been wrong all along & this new way is the path they are going to take. So, we will need to look for a solution.

    So much for backward compatibility!!!
Now, this could be one of the reasons, inspite of having a good product with good language, they aren't the leaders in the market.
