tag or multitag with Blue Express (changing tag)

This is happening a lot with Blue Express. What causes the tag to change and is there a better way to handle this? I'm concerned about the maintenance and the scripts running. if the tag always changes.

This screen in Blue Express I called the user input field "UserID" and the tag is 288, BUT of I backout the hit the same screen again the tag changes to 1312 (see top). Is this a good place for multitag?

And what if it keeps changes?

    Please Advise,
    Bruce.

I looked in the archives and found blue express but not about multitag. I think this would happen a lot or I'm handling it wrong.

Why use numbered tags at all? Use the text form instead. It is normally the default selection and it is the one method that is least likely to change.

Re: tag or multitag with Blue Express (changing tag)

In the attached image there is no text just edit boxes and no text in them. How do I do that, the system is setting the tag number. I also have the same problem with the system getting confussed over the multitag to pick the window.

If I'm on BatchJobJCL window the system still says DeliverRePrintAttributes window. I think it is getting mix up with multitags, but if I don't use them it does not convert the names to what I called them?

This is the first time I have used Blue Express.

    Thanks for your help,
    Bruce.

Re: tag or multitag with Blue Express (changing tag)

just helping you to figure out a way.....take a look at the recording options and see if all the options are selected(<Ctrl+Alt> while recording and options in the record window declarations window)...silk test usually captures the Caption as tag, the Internal id as tag and object location among others. the reliable ones are the windowid and caption tags. even it these turn out to change each time...then you'd have to handle the objects during runtime as dynamic objects and go about the way you would differentiate them manually.

Have you tried using the object's index?

    The declaration would be

    TextField UserID // TextField1
    tag "#1"

Just ensure that the object is always going to appear in the same place.

Re: tag or multitag with Blue Express (changing tag)

I have found that there are two different windows, both do the same thing. I don't know which on ewill be displayed, so I think your click on the first cell might work. Next little thing is how do I hit F3 regardless what screen is up?

    Thanks for all the HELP.
