Re: Any systerm function to extract pc name?

    SYS_Execute("hostname") works great. Thanks.

The .dll that you can find on the following web site may help, too.

Any systerm function to extract pc name?

I wasn't able to find any SYS_ function that would extract relevent information related to the pc, such as the full computer name of the pc. I don't want to write script to look in the System Properties dialog/Network Identification for it in W2000. Does anyone know any other way?

Re: Any systerm function to extract pc name?

You can get the machine name from the registry -- I'm currently working on a Win98 machine ... and it's:

    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\ComputerName \ComputerName

I believe the other OS's (NT/2k/XP) use the same tree -- or can easily be coded as a variable based on OS type.
