We have installed SilkTest 5.5 on 2 systems and Silkmeter 2.2.2 on one of those systems as well. In the User Policy Administrator, under the SilkTest_GUI 5.5 item, it has listed 2 user names. And on the right pane, it says Parts : 1, Licenses : 4, Max invokes : 0, Max units : 0 anf no timeframes. And the same data on the right pane for SilkTest_Agent 5.5 item. There is nothing listed under this item.
So, what exactly does this mean? we have 4 licenses. Can we install SilkTest on any number of machines, but use only 4 instances at any given time? If SilkTest and the Agent are installed on a system, is that counted as 2 licenses. If a user is just coding, is that using a license?
Thanks for any insight into this.
Re: Licensing Question
1) Yes, the licenses are concurrent user counts -- thus you can install on 10,000,000 machines but only have 4 instances running at a given time (sorry for the exaggeration).
2) Installing doesn't count for anything -- only "in use" instances.
3) Yes, coding uses a SilkTest_GUI license. It does NOT use a SilkTest_Agent license until you do something that spawns an agent instance. Thus, to wrap up #2, you use 2 licenses when doing a run -- one Agent license and one GUI license.
So -- the (sometimes) tricky part is to make sure that you can "find" any running instances of both GUI and Agent if you suddenly find yourself out of licenses!
